The style of this particular wood box is derived from a box design used for holding all the important family papers. This particular piece draws it’s design from a chest that was made in New York State around 1825.
Shaped with period tools circa 1850’s; dovetail jointed, & glued. Finished with a pure tung oil to accentuate the natural patina of the one hundred year old Virgin White Pine and Hemlock. Hardware: Forged Iron Hinges & Sand Cast Handles, used in the 17th and 18th centuries. Chest is 27″ Long by 121/2″ Wide by 12 ½” High.
A wood box that serves as a wonderful piece of art to spark interesting conversation or to make a lasting impression as a unique, interesting and thoughtful gift.
